i. Biography
Richard Sanford is the founder and winery ambassador of Alma Rosa Winery & Vineyards in the Sta. Rita Hills of Santa Barbara County, California. Richard planted the first Pinot Noir vineyard in what is now the Sta. Rita Hills AVA in 1971, later planted the estate’s El Jabali Vineyard in 1983, and co-founded Alma Rosa with his wife Thekla in 2005.
