i. Biography
The Climb
Training at New York Institute of Technology gave Richard Stabile the technical base, but the working years that followed were in business and brand strategy. The sequence ran through Marketing Manager at Unisys (1982–1992), Product Marketing at Canon USA (1992–1997), director of Business Development at Digi International (1997–2004), and Executive Vice President, Business Development at Boston Circuits (2004–2007), before the move into distilling.
Today
Distilling became the point of application in 2007, when Richard Stabile founded Long Island Spirits in Baiting Hollow, New York, and took on the Master Distiller role. The choice was practical rather than rhetorical: he said spirits, not wine, was the field that held his interest, and he framed the work as a place where he could make a difference. The local footing mattered as well, with Long Island’s potato lineage giving the category a regionally grounded logic.
Signature
LiV and Pine Barrens Whiskey are the named signature wines associated with Richard Stabile at Long Island Spirits.
In Their Words “We're very fortunate. We've got a strong distribution partner, and they've given a solid commitment.” “Long Island’s got the lineage with potatoes. It seemed a natural.”
Recognition
The clearest professional marker is the founder and Master Distiller role Richard Stabile has held since 2007. Beyond the still, he points to distribution as part of the operation’s reach, crediting a strong partner and its commitment.
