Together, they successfully cultivate 3 hectares of vineyard area, a scale that keeps attention close to the rows and to the choices made through the season. The vines are worked and cared for according to the rules of integrated production. Sustainable soil management is part of that practice, promoting biodiversity and ecosystem stability rather than treating the vineyard as separate from the life around it.

The Work Today

Rolf Marti-Wenger works in vineyard care, winemaking, and sales at Cave Adamare in Salgesch, Switzerland. The role connects the physical condition of the vineyard, the decisions that shape wine in the cellar, and the final conversation with the people who buy and drink the bottles. The estate produces high-quality wines, with red wines holding particular importance, including single-varietal red wines. In 2023, Cave Adamare was Swiss champion in the category of single-varietal red wines, a precise honor that places its red-wine work in a national frame. A defining bottle is Grand Cru Pinot noir Salgesch AOC Valais, described as the crowning touch of Adamare's Pinot noirs. As a Salgesch Grand Cru, it is subject to strict rules, including vineyard yield regulation at 800 g/m2, inspections, and blind tastings by professional tasters. In that wine, the family line, the village rules, and the vineyard method meet in one place. For Marti-Wenger, the work is not only to make wine, but to keep the connection intact between Salgesch ground, inherited responsibility, and the exacting standards attached to a Grand Cru Pinot noir.
