i. Biography
Servando Calderon has held the General Director post at Casa Sauza in Tequila, Mexico, since 2007, a role built on continuity across agave, production, and place. In a house with a recognizable name, the work reads less like reinvention than accumulation: years spent close to the material, then responsibility for the system that turns that material into finished tequila.
The Path
The earliest years at Casa Sauza, from 1998–2002, placed Servando Calderon in direct contact with grapes and agave. That is foundational work in an agricultural category: learning the crop side of the business first, before any broader managerial remit, and understanding how the raw materials enter the house’s production logic. From 2002–2006, he was in charge of all agave production for Casa Sauza's supply at Casa Sauza. That position sits at the center of continuity for any tequila producer, because supply depends on attention to the plant, the field, and the handling of both over time. By 2007, the progression had become clear enough to formalize in leadership, and Servando Calderon moved into the General Director role at Casa Sauza.
The Work Today
The role held since 2007 is stated plainly: "As of 2007, I am the General Director of Casa Sauza." The plainness matters. It signals a career built by moving through the working parts of the house first, then taking on the wider view that general direction requires. In Tequila, Mexico, that kind of continuity is part of the job description.
In Their Words “If Casa Sauza had to be defined in one word, it would be "Perseverance".” “As of 2007, I am the General Director of Casa Sauza.”
