Carl Formaker

Carl Formaker is the winemaker at Domaine Serene Winery in Dayton, Oregon, where he was announced as the new winemaker in September 2023 and later described on the winery’s team page as spearheading winemaking from grape to bottle. He was born and raised in Forestville in California’s Russian River Valley, earned a biology degree from UC Berkeley, worked five years in clinical trials at UCSF, then returned to wine through harvest work, a master’s degree in Viticulture and Enology at UC Davis, and prior roles at Marcassin Wines and Three Sticks Wines.
