Wine work here is built on school discipline and cellar repetition. Diego Conterno trained at Umberto 1 Enological School, then moved into co-founding Conterno-Fantino in Monforte d'Alba, Piedmont (1982–2000). That sequence matters: the classroom gave the terms, and the partnership put them under pressure in real production. Since 2000, Diego Conterno has been the founder and wine producer of Diego Conterno, extending that same grounded approach into a label carried by his own name.

The Work Today

The current work at Diego Conterno stays tied to a clear brief: Traditional Barolo and other Piedmontese wines from organically farmed vineyards in Monforte d’Alba. The priority is continuity over novelty, with the site, the growers, and the wines treated as inseparable parts of the same practice. Diego Conterno frames Monforte d’Alba as more than a backdrop; it is the source material for the house style.

Signature

Barolo Ginestra, Sori Ginestra, Barolo Le Coste di Monforte, Barbera d'Alba Ferrione, and Langhe Bianco Nascetta mark the range of Diego Conterno’s cellar. Together, they show a house anchored in Barolo but not limited to it, with each wine remaining tied to Piedmont and to the same disciplined production line. The signatures read as variations within a single regional vocabulary, shaped by Monforte d’Alba.
