i. Biography
Erik Bruner-Yang is an Washington, D.C.–based chef, restaurateur, and founder of the hospitality group Foreign National. He rose to prominence after opening the groundbreaking ramen shop Toki Underground in 2011 and subsequently established Maketto in 2015, a multi-concept Asian communal marketplace and restaurant. Bruner-Yang is a multi-time James Beard Foundation Award nominee and the founder of The Power of 10 Initiative, a nationwide pandemic relief program supporting independent restaurants and local communities.
