The Climb
Vineyard succession in Champagne is learned through repeated cellar and field decisions, not through narrative polish. In Erlande Cordeuil’s case, that discipline is tied to a family estate cultivating 5 hectares organically across Noé-les-Mallets, Fontette and Ville-sur-Arce, on Kimmeridgian clay-limestone soils valued in the wines for deep minerality and ageing potential. Cellar time is a structural choice in this house style. The champagnes are aged and lightly dosed, with extended cellar ageing of 6 to 15 years. That long resting period rounds the wines naturally, reduces reliance on dosage and keeps the emphasis on terroir purity rather than added sweetness. The register is restraint: freshness, texture and mineral length built through time. Sensation, one of the Cordeuil Père & Fille cuvées, gives a clear reading of that method. It is described with a golden robe and amber highlights, citrus and green-apple notes, hints of honey and butter, assertive acidity from the absence of malolactic fermentation, and a long saline, zesty finish. The cuvée sets brightness against maturity, with richness kept in line by acidity and finish. The technical frame of Sensation is direct. No malolactic fermentation preserves crisp acidity and vivacity; extended ageing brings texture and evolved notes; Pinot Noir contributes structure and density; lees ageing gives aromatic persistence. In Erlande Cordeuil’s work, those choices point to champagnes built to open gradually, with cellar patience serving vineyard clarity.
Today
Family Champagne production here remains literal in its structure: father and daughter, vineyard and cellar, Noé-les-Mallets and the surrounding villages connected through organic practice. Erlande’s role belongs to that continuity, a working exchange between generations shaped by the sites that define the estate: Noé-les-Mallets, Fontette and Ville-sur-Arce. Light dosage and long cellar ageing set the production rhythm. The method depends on extended time on the lees, measured dosage and the natural architecture of the fruit. The wines are made to hold freshness while gaining texture, with patience functioning as a cellar tool rather than a marketing position.
Signature
Erlande's signature wines include Brut Tradition, Millésime 2015 Bio, Sensation, and Brut Rosé. Together, they mark the range of the house: Brut Tradition for the familiar house base, Millésime 2015 Bio for vintage expression, Sensation for textured precision, and Brut Rosé for fruit held in balance.
