i. Biography
Coming Up
A career in large-scale electronics, luxury, technology, and healthcare gave Jean-Frédéric Bistagne a working vocabulary for precision, timing, and systems before he brought that discipline to wine. Trained at Grenoble INP - UGA and INSEAD, he studied at INSEAD in 1995 and moved through executive roles that required commercial judgment across France and Switzerland, with a 1990 start as CEO at electronic firms in France and abroad in Switzerland setting the cross-border pattern that followed. At Maxtor, the work sat at the point where product, brand, and regional markets had to be managed together. Jean-Frédéric Bistagne served as director of Consumer Electronics EMEA from 2000–2003 and as director of Branded Products - retail, emea from 2002–2006, then moved into General Manager Holistis at DLG (Digital Luxury Group) in 2007–2008 before becoming Senior Director Branded Solutions EMEA at Seagate Technology in 2008–2009. The sequence shows a career built on adapting management to different categories without losing the operational frame. From there, the remit shifted again, but the pattern remained: operating across markets and business cultures. He served as General Manager Europe at FDC International FZCO from 2009–2010, handled Business Development France-Switzerland at Silver Tail Systems (Acquired by RSA) from 2010–2011, then was CEO at Lapeyre Medical SA from 2011–2013 and advisor to CEO at Actigenomics from 2013–2014. The through-line is executive movement across sectors, with each role demanding a different version of the same core skill: structure under change. Since 2014, Jean-Frédéric Bistagne has been a vigneron at Domaine des Maravilhas in Saint-Laurent des Arbres, France, while also serving as General Manager of Les Vignerons Associés. The transition into wine is less a rupture than a reapplication of the same trade habits—organization, long view, and an instinct for quality—now expressed through vineyard work and the slower decisions of élevage and blending. He is a member of Biodyvin.
