i. Biography
Today
Training at Agronomski fakultet u Zagrebu gave Lucija Kužir a disciplined base in vineyard and cellar work, and that foundation shows in a practice built around precision, patience, and close reading of the crop. The science of the vineyard and the cellar frames the work here: not speed, but attention to detail, season, and the specific character of each harvest. In 2017–2017, stažiranje at Miljenko Grgich stipendija / Sonoma Valley in Kalifornija, SAD added time in one of the world’s best-known wine regions, where vineyard work and winemaking sit tightly with place. Since 2018, voditeljica vinogradarske i vinarske proizvodnje of Feravino / Enosophia has placed Lucija Kužir at the center of production, with responsibility that spans vineyard and winery alike. The role asks for broad oversight and precise judgment, especially in weather-driven work where conditions can shift quickly and decisions carry through to bottle. Harvest is the clearest test in that cycle, when months of care are converted into wine material and the pace of the season sharpens rather than relaxes.
Signature
The three wines associated with Lucija Kužir — Trs No. 5, Matarouge, and Nice to see you — each sit in a different register of Enosophia’s production. Trs No. 5 points to graševina and varietal clarity; Matarouge, a rosé made from frankovka and pinot noir, carries the name of the Mataruge vineyard site; and Nice to see you brings a sparkling format with a greeting in the name itself. Read together, they show a style that keeps variety, site, and naming at the front of the bottle.
In Their Words “While for most people, the end of August and the beginning of September means the end of summer, for us, that period means the beginning of the grape harvest and the most exciting part of the year.” “Quality is our first priority, and with favorable ratios of quality and quantity, we manage to produce exactly the same grapes for our wines as we need for a particular product.”
Recognition
In 2022, the Enosophia label under Lucija Kužir produced a set of modern wines that each carries a distinct idea while staying tied to vineyard identity. Trs No. 5 is a graševina named for the fact that every fifth vine in Croatia is graševina; Matarouge is a rosé made from frankovka and pinot noir, named after the Mataruge vineyard site; and Nice to see you is an Enosophia sparkling wine whose greeting message highlights the value of meetings. Together, these wines show a method that keeps close to variety, vineyard site, and clear bottle-level communication.
