Marco Balsimelli

Marco Balsimelli is the Technical Director for Ornellaia and Masseto in Bolgheri, Tuscany, where Ornellaia’s official history page lists him as supporting the estate’s leadership. Public reporting says he began this role in January 2024 after a long career in Bordeaux, including work with consultant Eric Boissenot and experience at Château Gruaud Larose. He studied oenology and viticulture in Florence and completed further training at Bordeaux’s Faculté d’Oenologie, later bringing that background back to Tuscany to oversee stylistic and technical decisions for the two estates.
