Mateo García

Mateo García is one of the mezcaleros behind Mezcal Vago in Candelaria Yegolé, Oaxaca, where he works alongside his brother Temo García as part of the García family’s multigenerational mezcal tradition. Mateo García is one of the sons of the late Aquilino García López, with the family continuing to produce small-batch mezcal for Mezcal Vago and tending agave varieties including Espadín, Tepeztate, Cuishe, Mexicano, and Tobalá. The available sources do not show separate awards, education, or an independent career outside the family palenque and Mezcal Vago relationship.
