Matthew Fioretti

Until 2009, Matthew Fioretti managed an import business focused largely on Italian wine at Summa Vitis in US. That work lived between producer and market, where timing, selection, and trust matter as much as the wine itself. By 2015, his position had shifted from handling Italian wine in transit to working with it at the source. He co-purchased Cerbaiona with a group of investors, and with that move entered the practical center of an estate in Montalcino, where the work is measured vintage by vintage.

Since 2015, Matthew Fioretti has worked as winemaker at Cerbaiona after co-purchasing the estate with a group of investors. Ownership and cellar work sit together here: the decisions are no longer external to the wines, but bound up in how the property is run and how each season is interpreted. At Cerbaiona, the craft is direct and cumulative, built through the daily work of the vineyard and cellar rather than through distance from them.

Matthew's signature wines include Casaglia Colorino, Cellalto, San Vito, Santinovo, and 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Cerbaiona.
