    i. Biography

    Michael Brajkovich MW is the winemaker and proprietor of Kumeu River Wines in Kumeu, Auckland, New Zealand, a family winery founded by the Brajkovich family in 1944. He became New Zealand’s first Master of Wine in 1989 and has built Kumeu River’s reputation for Burgundian-style Chardonnay, including site-specific wines such as Estate, Coddington, Hunting Hill, and Maté’s Vineyard. In 2024, he was recognised by New Zealand Winegrowers as a Fellow for services to winemaking, and industry coverage noted his long tenure and global reputation at the winery.
