Coming Up

UC Davis and Sonoma State University gave Nate Weis a formal base in California wine education, and that structure helped shape a career that would demand both technical discipline and attention to vineyard character. From there, he moved into work as winemaker at Silver Oak Cellars (2014–2025), building a decade of experience at one of the state’s most recognized names. Today, Nate is Adjunct Faculty of Napa Valley College, Vice President of winegrowing of Silver Oak Cellars, Twomey Cellars, and Timeless Napa Valley, and General Manager and Head Winemaker of Beaulieu Vineyard (since 2025). The mix of teaching, stewardship, and production shows a winemaker moving across the business without leaving the details behind.

Where They Are Now

The drinker stays in view in Weis’s reading of wine: “There’s something very rewarding about observing the way our customers interact with our wines.” The point is simple and practical—wine only completes its work when it is poured, tasted, and shared. He also said, “I feel like we’re adding some joy and love to the world with each bottle that leaves the cellar, and the beauty of wine is that it transports us all to another place and time.” In that frame, the cellar is not just a production site; it is where a bottle is made to carry memory, atmosphere, and occasion beyond the room in which it was filled.

Nate's signature wines include 2016 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, 2017 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2019 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Read together, they show a career built inside a house style that values recognition and consistency while still leaving room for vintage variation.
