Since 2004, Sonja Magdevski has been learning winegrowing from the ground up by helping plant a vineyard, a start that ties later cellar work back to the field. That kind of beginning matters in wine: it builds an eye for seasons, a respect for labor, and a practical understanding of how fruit, site, and timing shape the finished bottle. Since 2011, Sonja Magdevski has owned and made wine at Casa Dumetz Wines in Los Alamos, while also serving as owner of Babi's Beer Emporium and, since 2025, winemaker of Clementine Carter Wines. The work across those roles shows a career built on ownership and production, with the throughline remaining clear: Santa Barbara County fruit, Rhône varieties, and a steady commitment to the craft.

Today

At Casa Dumetz Wines, Sonja Magdevski holds both owner and winemaker roles, keeping the decisions around fruit, cellar work, and final release under one roof. That arrangement gives the wines a direct line from source to bottle, and it suits a style that values balance, texture, and purpose over display.
