i. Biography
Maha Dahmash founded Shams El Balad in Amman in 2000, starting as a small shop selling handmade pots and plants before it grew into a family-run lifestyle brand focused on food, dining, design, and sustainability. Shams El Balad later expanded into one of Amman’s early design concept stores, a café, a full-service restaurant, and an events/design business, with her children Qais Malhas and Karma Malhas later joining the operation.
