i. Biography
Zubair Mohajir is a Chennai-born, Chicago-based chef and restaurateur who co-founded Mirra in Bucktown, where he works with chef Rishi Kumar on an India-meets-Mexico concept. He began in finance before moving into kitchens in 2008, later building a Chicago restaurant portfolio that includes Wazwan, Lilac Tiger, Coach House, Mirra, and Sarima Cafe. His work at Mirra has earned Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand recognition and national attention, including Food & Wine’s 2026 Best New Chefs coverage.
