Ed Flaherty

Red blends have defined Ed Flaherty’s work from the start: wines assembled for depth, structure, and layered expression rather than flash. At Viña Errázuriz in Aconcagua Valley, Chile (1996–2004), that approach was formed in a region watched closely by the trade, where production responsibility demanded scale and consistency. He then carried that practice into Via Wines in Chile (2004–2006) as winemaker, before moving on to Viña Tarapacá in Chile (from 2006), where the same discipline continued in red wine work that depends on balance more than ornament.

The center of Ed Flaherty’s current profile is still the blend. His Cauquenes blend first appeared with the 2014 vintage, built from roughly half Tempranillo and half Petite Sirah, with Malbec and Garnacha folded in. That composition reads as a cellar craft defined by proportion: each variety contributing without taking over, and the whole held together by a palate oriented toward structure and balance.

Ed's signature dishes include Aconcagua blend, Cauquenes blend, and Casa del Magnolio.
