Gordon Newton-Johnson

Gordon Newton-Johnson is the winemaker at Newton Johnson Vineyards in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley near Hermanus, South Africa, where he and Nadia Newton Johnson are described as the husband-and-wife winemaking team. The Newton Johnson family moved to the valley and began planting vines shortly thereafter; Gordon later took over winemaking at the estate in 1999, after earlier experience that included work at Hamilton Russell Vineyards and self-directed study with time in France, California, and New Zealand. He is associated with estate wines from the family farm, especially Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and has been noted as making the estate’s Chardonnay since 2008.
