    i. Biography

Jean-Pierre Moueix (1913–2003) was a legendary Bordeaux wine merchant who founded Établissements Jean-Pierre Moueix in Libourne in 1937 and transformed the Right Bank wine region through strategic vineyard acquisitions and professional estate management. Beginning in 1950, he acquired major Pomerol and Saint-Émilion properties including Château La Fleur-Pétrus, Château Magdelaine, and Château Trotanoy, and achieved his career highlight by acquiring a 50% stake in the prestigious Château Pétrus in 1961, which he later expanded to full ownership. His vision for precision viticulture and quality control established the Moueix name as synonymous with Right Bank excellence and set the standard for international Bordeaux branding.
