i. Biography
The Path
Training at Lycée Viticole gave Pierre-Henri Rougeot the base language of the trade: vines, fruit, and fermentation. That schooling was followed by work on the commercial side as export manager at a cooperage in France, a post that kept him close to the material side of wine while widening his view of how the trade moves. The line eventually brought him back to the family domaine in Meursault, where formal training and practical experience meet in the winemaking of Domaine Rougeot Père et Fils.
The Work Today
Since 2010, the winemaking at Domaine Rougeot Père et Fils has been shaped by the balance between continuity and adaptation. Pierre-Henri Rougeot works within an inherited estate identity, but each vintage still asks for its own decisions in vineyard and cellar. That is the daily work of the role: holding the line on the domaine’s style while letting the year speak through the finished wines.
Signature
Pierre-Henri Rougeot’s signature wines include Meursault Sous la Velle, Bourgogne Aligoté Les Plumes, Bourgogne Côte d’Or La Monetine, Bourgogne Côte d’Or Grands Gouttes, and Bourgogne Passetoutgrain - Cuvée "Les Vercherres." Those cuvées show the spread of the domaine’s range, from Meursault through Bourgogne Aligoté and Bourgogne Côte d’Or. They sit inside the working framework of Domaine Rougeot Père et Fils, where named parcels and village-level wines carry the estate’s character through different formats.
In Their Words “It would be hard not to be happy – 2023 is a lovely vintage.”
